Sulphuric acid is one of the world’s most extensively used industrial chemicals and is central to many hydrometallurgical circuits. It is a viscous, colourless liquid that reacts strongly with water and requires rigorous handling controls. It may also arise as a smelting by-product.

LIX · Solvent extraction

LIX 984N-C for
copper circuits.

LIX 984N-C is a 1:1 volume blend of LIX 860N-IC and LIX 84-IC: a mixture of 5-nonylsalicylaldoxime and 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl-acetophenone oxime in a high-flash-point hydrocarbon diluent.

Because the extractant contains no added modifier, it may offer advantages in copper extraction from solutions containing soluble silica or finely divided solids.
